** spoiler alert ** I started “The Themis Files” series last year. While I don’t have those book reviews, what I can say about this series is that it is clever and intriguing. I really enjoyed listening to the first two books.
The last installment in the series is a little awkward.
SPOILER ALERT
The premise of the book begins as the crew of Themis go to the planet Themis is from. They transport back to earth and find a very different earth in terms of government and structure. This was a little jarring and not very interesting, to be honest. I thought that this book was the weakest of the trilogy for a few different reasons. The parts of the first novel that were compelling were the story telling. I actually felt as if there was a goal at the very end to the unique telling of the story (by “files” that someone was going through to reenact what happened). In the end, the close of the book isn’t as satisfying as I thought it should be.
All in all, this was a decent book. I enjoyed the series, but I don’t know if I would recommend it to others.
